LO4: Final Photographs

  Creative and digital Sheffield

For my final pictures I will show you the original image that I started off with and the last version I then ended up with whether it has been edited to the max or not. Within the brief I was given there was not specific type of picture I was after as the brief was quite harsh and was pretty much impossible to come up with a series of 10 picture that all link together within content wise so instead of choosing a specific theme I have chosen 10 pictures that I think fit the theme.

Creative and digital Sheffield - Photo #01

Okay so this is picture one. This is the raw image that i started with. I chose this picture purely because of the fact that I thought 'taking a picture of someone taking a picture' fit really well, especially with how the picture is made out with the wide angle lens as it makes the buildings look really enlarged or stretched than normal. When editing this image I will try and get rid of some of the distraction in the background such as the people and pigeons as it draws your attention away from the focus of the picture, as this picture follows a great rule of thirds as there is something happening in each third of the picture, with the top third being of the skyline and roofs of the buildings the middle third being the main structure of the buildings and the person taking the picture in the middle of the middle third and the bottom third being the floor.
This is the edited version of the photo, as you can tell from the original nothing major got changed because I really like the natural and peaceful feel to this picture as the place it was taken was in the peace gardens the picture helps connote the name of the gardens as it looks really peaceful as to help this picture look more peaceful I did use the clone and spot healing tool to remove the bright colors of the people walking past in the background so the first thing you notice when looking at the picture is the person taking the photograph and what the could be taking a picture of, as this makes you wonder what the persons picture and focus point could be. To improve this picture I also, which you may not be able to tell at first glance but used the spot healing tool on the floor to remove the random stains and mess on the floor to make it look really smooth and cause less distraction.

This was the original image that I started out with as this image really shows creative and digital Sheffield as it shows creative minds at work, as this was actually took during filming of unit 46, I really thought it was an effective sort of picture to show the brief we was given. This picture doesn't really have anything i would like to drastically change as I think it represents the brief well enough already.

This is the edited of the picture as you probably can tell i slightly altered the lightness and vibrance of the picture so the orange light that was laying on his face was quite off putting to the image and drew the attention away from the camera. I also added a slight iris blur to the edges to show you that the main focus is in the middle of the picture.

Okay so this was the image I took of the electric works. I thought this really helped represent the digital side of the brief as quite a few digital based businesses are based in the electric works and is a really interesting building. So I thought I needed to add something to make it fit fully to the brief of 'creative and digital Sheffield'. So this leads me on to the edited version.

So this was the edited version of the electric works that I did, this now adapts to the brief of 'creative and digital Sheffield' As I found the graffiti really creative because of a;; the color and shapes used within and the building was really interesting as it is known for businesses of the digital area to work within.

This picture shows the crucible in the heart of the city. I think this building represents the brief as it has creative performances and has a digital kind of feel with the typography and things used on the building.
However I thought the image needed something interesting to it so I took the picture of the graffiti and created a clipping mask to the text of the building, this makes the picture more interesting aswell as making the person looking at the picture wonder what the colour and pattern is originally from.

This is the original image I started out with. I think this represents the brief very well as it is not the ordinary color as they were colored for the Tour De France which covers the creative aspect  of the fountains.

This is the edited version of the picture as you can tell from the previous aspect the brightness and contrast were turned up aswell as the spot healing tool to get rid of all the spots and thing of the floor to cause less distraction and also I used the clone tool to get rid of the man in the background of the fountain, even though it may not have been the most visible thing to cause distraction it was irrelevant.
Creative and digital Sheffield - Photo #06

This was the picture before and after.

This was the picture before being edited. I thought this was rather creative and Digital as it shows the view of Sheffield from high up. I really liked this panorama picture as it gives off a really nice effect with the view of Sheffield from the windows.
This is the edited version of the image. Not much was changed apart from the brightness/ contrast as well as the exposure of the picture.

Creative and digital Sheffield - Photo #07

This picture is taken of a bit of graffiti on an abandoned building. I think this picture represents the brief well because of the creativity of the graffiti artists.
This was the edited version of the picture. I selected the outlining lines of the graffiti to be able to change the color by adjusting the hue and saturation to make the main parts of the graffiti stand out make them and the windows the main focus of the picture. I also adjusted the brightness and contrast of the image to dull done the bush and overgrown plants in the entrance way to cause less distraction, it also brightens up the bricks around the window linings. I really like how the graffiti at the top of the image lines the edge of the image to create some sort of border or frame which makes I rather interesting.

This was the original image of the graffiti inside the abandoned building. I thought this image was rather dull and needed something to focus on when looking at the picture.

I edited the picture so that it had really bright graffiti on the wall to draw your attention to that, I used the selective color tool to change the colour to make it stand out as well as the saturation and brightness. I did this on the pink, red, green and yellow colors.

This was the original image. I really liked this  image as it really shows the peaceful atmosphere Sheffield can have with the creative graffiti surroundings.

This was the edited version of the picture. I tried to brighten up the picture up to show all the small details in the leaves and water stream to make it more interesting to look at.
